Cookeville Regional Medical Center is now offering a stroke support group for patients and their families who have had a stroke.

“Having a stroke can be life-changing and there are many steps to getting back to everyday life and that can be emotional and frustrating so we are excited to offer this support group to those who have gone through the journey of having a stroke,” Carol Lynam, Occupational Therapist at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

The support group is scheduled to meet the first Thursday of each month for one our starting at 1 p.m. at the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center’s dining room located at 215 West Sixth St. in Cookeville. Attendees can park on the west side of the building at the corner of West Sixth Street and N. Whitney Avenue for closer parking and entry into the building.

“Gathering together with those around you who have been through a similar situation as you in incredibly beneficial,” said Lynam. “There is a common bond and you can lean on each other through this journey.”

“Learning to Cope through Knowledge and Hope” is the slogan for this support group.
